Internet Marketing - What is the Difference Between Internet Marketing and Affiliate Marketing?

Many people are confused about the differences between internet marketing and Affiliate Marketing.

Internet Marketing is more of a blanket industry, which covers a range of online income streams. Within that range, you will find: Affiliate Marketing, Viral Marketing, Bum Marketing, List- Building and other online income streams

At this point, I am assuming that you have already identified a product to sell. If you do not, consider affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing, you promote another person's product and they send you a commission when they sell something to one of your referrals.

This can be achieved most efficiently by signing up to various Affiliate Marketing Companies such as Clickbank and Commission Junction. Clickbank handles primarily ebooks and other forms of Electronic Information while Commission Junction takes care of selling hard goods, such as Vitamin Supplements, Clothing, Toys, and other such things.

Once someone decides to embark on an internet marketing career, the next step is to decide what will be the first thing to try. My advice is to usually begin with Affiliate Marketing because it is the easiest to do if you can only work at it part time. Trying to do too much will usually just result in disorganization and ultimate demoralization.

Start with a single website, decide what one product line you want to promote, and begin drawing traffic to that site. Sounds simple enough, but when we get to the traffic part, it starts to get a little difficult and that is when most people simply give up.

Decide how much you want to earn, then do what you have to do to earn it
