What is email marketing? Email marketing is the process of marketing via email (as opposed to direct mail or billboard marketing).
So when you are getting started in email marketing, what do you need to do?
There are 3 real things that are important with email marketing:
1) You have to have a series of emails
2) You have to have a niche and a purpose
3) You have to have a product to promote.
You have to have all three of these things to have a viable email marketing campaign.
I am going to start with #2 here:
You have to have a niche and a purpose. A niche is a small area online in which you can market to a set of likeminded consumers. For example, weight loss is a niche. Email marketing is a niche. Woodworking is a niche.
What is your purpose? Do you want to educate people? Do you want to sell to people? Why are you online?
Next, #3: You have to have a product to promote. You need to find a product that will meet the needs of your niche email readers.
Now, for #1: You have to write a series of emails. This may be the hardest part for you – but just write a full series – maybe 20 emails – in one sitting. This allows you to test 20 emails at one time in your autoresponder, instead of testing one at a time.
These are the first 3 steps of email marketing. It might seem daunting at first – but just jump in there and learn these steps, master these steps.
